oh party prep!
i'm so excited about e's baby shower on sunday! i spent a good deal of nap time today organizing our ginormous stash of fabric and deciding which were just right to bring to the party. e's friends and family will be making her monthly onesies (like the ones jen made for otto). so fun! i will be bringing this gorgeous collection of vintage and eclectic fabrics for folks to design with, along with white onesies, directions and assistance. (this project is so easy though! the better to craft and drink mimosas with!) our goal for this and every shower: the new mom gets something beautiful, useful and incredibly meaningful and the guests get the chance to be creative, have fun and give something with their own special touch that mom is totally thrilled to receive.
so here it is. don't show e this amazing stash. some of the real fun is watching jaws gape when they see the beautiful choices.

welcome to your second month, Otto!
VERY exciting to see the onesies on the actual babe! Also very exciting to be doing our first baby shower in a few weeks featuring this very project!

Otto is zero!
Otto was kind enough to pose in his first monthly onesie, which is even cuter when worn by an adorable baby. Check out the January 19th post for all 13 onesies...

month-by-month hand sewn onesies plus a cupcake
I've been excited to make month-by-month onesies since Laurie's twins were gifted with some when they were born (almost a year ago!). Not only are onesies super practical baby presents (which I can tell you from experience are the best kind), but they are so great for snapping photos for a record of each month of babe's first year.
I used our stash of vintage fabrics as well as those great pajama bags I scored at the Pine Cone Hill tent sale last fall. You can hand sew them like I did, or applique them on. I'm not a particularly sentimental person, but I almost got teary thinking about our new nephew Otto as he grows and changes over the next year. And wondering which onesies would suffer from poop explosions.
This is a super fun and easy activity to do at a baby shower. We'll bring the fabric, onesies, and expertise. Email us for the next shower you host!

best baby shower crafting project ever
Seriously. This is the coolest, most do-able baby shower craft project ever. Imagine going to a baby shower, and instead of watching an exhausted pregger woman open 10 billion baby presents (say it, all together, "Oh, how cute, how tiny!"), actually being creative and producing fabulous, useful presents for the bambinos-to-be.
Laurie, who is now the mom of two amazingly beautiful babies, Amelia and Elliott, received 12 onesies, in ascending size, with the numbers 1-12 sewn on them. What a useful, fantastic way to take those monthly pictures so you can remember what babe looked like each of those amazing first 12 months (let's face it, you aren't going to remember if you don't take pictures, you can't even remember what you ate for breakfast 3 hours ago once you have kids).
Check the onesies out in "action":

hello, Elliott!
Check out all 12 at this great blog.
We'd love to help you put this great project together at the next baby shower you organize. We have the most amazing stash of vintage fabrics from the 50's, 60's and 70's for a retro babe, or pick your own fabrics!
